Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, has announced an extension of the registration period for its 2026/2027 Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) screening exercise. The university said interested candidates now have until Friday, August 14, 2026, to complete their applications.
The extension gives qualified UTME and Direct Entry applicants additional time to register for the screening exercise and meet all admission requirements before the closing date.
Eligibility Requirements
The university stated that candidates who scored 150 and above in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and selected AE-FUNAI as their first-choice institution are eligible to apply for the screening exercise.
Applicants are advised to confirm the minimum screening score required for their preferred programme before completing their application, as admission requirements vary across courses.
Candidates who did not initially choose AE-FUNAI as their first-choice institution but wish to gain admission into the university can also apply. However, they must first complete a Change of Institution and/or Course on the official JAMB portal before Friday, August 14, 2026. This requirement also applies to Direct Entry (DE) applicants.
Application Fee
Eligible candidates are required to pay a non-refundable processing fee of ₦2,000.
Registration Procedure
Applicants should complete their registration by following these steps:
- Visit the official application portal at apply.funai.edu.ng.
- Enter your JAMB Registration Number to validate your profile.
- Provide a valid email address and an active phone number.
- Verify your email using the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your email address.
- Transfer the full ₦2,000 processing fee using the payment details provided on the portal.
- After making payment, click "I have made payment" to continue the registration process.
- Complete the application and check your email for the registration acknowledgement.
Screening Method
AE-FUNAI explained that the 2026/2027 Post-UTME exercise will be conducted through an internal screening of candidates' academic records and submitted credentials. No physical screening examination was announced in the official notice.
Upload of O'Level and Direct Entry Results
The university emphasized that all applicants must upload their relevant O'Level and Direct Entry results on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) on or before Friday, August 14, 2026.
Applications without the required result uploads on JAMB CAPS will not be processed for admission.
Important Information for Applicants
Candidates seeking admission into the following programmes must possess their O'Level results in one sitting:
- Medicine and Surgery
- Law
- Nursing Science
- Medical Science Laboratory
Applicants are also advised to ensure that their UTME subject combination and O'Level subjects meet the admission requirements for their chosen programme as published by the university.
Prospective candidates who need assistance with registration may visit either of the following centres:
- University CBT Centre, Zone A, AE-FUNAI Campus.
- Centre for Educational Services (JUPEB/Pre-Degree School), Aguogboriga Estate, Abakaliki.
During registration, candidates should provide a phone number that is active and easily accessible to receive important updates regarding the admission exercise.
The university also warned that any candidate found to have submitted false or misleading information at any stage of the screening or admission process will be automatically disqualified.
