Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has released an update on the 2026 UTME and Direct Entry (DE) screening exercise, outlining reasons some candidates may not have their screening results processed and steps affected applicants should take.
In a Special Bulletin dated Wednesday, August 19, 2026, the University directed candidates who registered for the screening exercise to log into the Post-UTME Portal and check their screening status.
According to the University, candidates whose screening has been successfully processed will see their results on the portal.
However, some candidates may not have their results processed due to errors or irregularities in the information submitted during registration.
ABU identified the following issues that could affect screening:
- Failure to upload a scanned copy of the O’Level result after entering the grades, or uploading the result without entering the grades.
- Discrepancies between the grades entered on the portal and those shown on the uploaded O’Level result.
- Uploading documents such as examination cards, JAMB registration slips or passports instead of the required O’Level result.
- Incorrect JAMB or O’Level subject combinations.
- Lack of the required O’Level credits, including a deficiency in English Language or having fewer than five specified O’Level credits.
- Candidates with results from two sittings uploading only one of the results.
- Uploading handwritten O’Level results instead of printouts from the relevant examination body.
- Submitting incomplete, squeezed or faded results that are not legible.
The University advised candidates affected by any of these issues to return to their portals and correct the identified anomalies immediately, warning that admission processing may not be possible if the errors remain unresolved.
ABU also directed candidates who used their email addresses instead of their JAMB registration numbers during screening registration to register again, as their previous applications are considered invalid.
Candidates who entered incorrect UTME or O’Level subject combinations were advised to change to programmes with appropriate subject requirements.
The University further urged applicants and Computer-Based Test (CBT) operators to exercise caution when entering and uploading information to prevent errors.
Candidates who have not yet registered their O’Level results were advised to do so immediately to enable the University to process their admission applications. Those whose results are still pending should wait until the results are released.
