NANS COMMENDS TINUBU FOR USING RECOVERED FUNDS TO STRENGTHEN STUDENT LOAN SCHEME

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing recovered funds from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) towards supporting the financial obligations of the Nigerian Student Loan Scheme.

NANS described the decision as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to making higher education more accessible and reducing the financial burden faced by Nigerian students and their families.

The students’ body said redirecting recovered resources towards education represents a meaningful way of converting public funds into opportunities that can support human capital development and national growth.

According to NANS, financial assistance can determine whether some students remain in school or are forced to suspend their education due to economic difficulties.

The association also praised the EFCC for its role in recovering funds that can now be channelled into productive national development, noting that such intervention shows how the fight against financial crimes can positively affect ordinary Nigerians.

NANS further appreciated President Tinubu for prioritising investments in young Nigerians, describing the country’s population as its greatest asset and education as an important foundation for national prosperity.

The association reaffirmed its readiness to work constructively with the Federal Government and relevant agencies on policies that advance quality education, student welfare, equal opportunities and sustainable human capital development.

NANS expressed its appreciation to the President for the intervention, saying it would help ensure that financial challenges do not permanently prevent Nigerian students from pursuing their educational ambitions.

The association concluded that every naira invested in the education of a Nigerian student is an investment in the future of Nigeria.
