The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has urged Corps Members to use soceial media responsibly and avoid online activities that could expose them to legal consequences.
Speaking to the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream Two Corps Members at the Orientation Camps in Yobe and Jigawa States, the NYSC DG warned against offences such as cyberbullying, online fraud, identity theft, data breaches and cyberstalking.
General Nafiu also carrutioned Corps Members against engaging in partisan politics during their service year, e that the NYSC is a non-partisan organisation.
He specifically advised them to refrain from making offensive comments on social media and participating in political activities, noting that Corps Members found engaging in partisan politics could face disciplinary action.
The Director-General further urged the Corps Members to remain security-conscious and disclosed that the Scheme does not deploy Corps Members to areas considered security-challenged.
Meanwhile, the NYSC Yobe State Coordinator, Mr Okochi Okpara, reported that 1,029 Corps Members, comprising 572 males and 457 females, were registered and actively participating in camp activities.
In Jigawa State, the State Coordinator, Alhaji Bala Mohammed Baba, reported that 1,186 Corps Members, comprising 681 males and 505 females, were registered and had demonstrated good conduct, diligence and readiness to contribute to the development of the State.
