The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has dismissed as fake a document circulating online which claimed that the results of candidates from 50 secondary schools were withheld over alleged examination malpractice in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.
In a statement shared through its verified social media platform, WAEC clarified that the viral notice did not originate from the Council and urged members of the public to disregard it.
The examination body described the document as false information, emphasizing that it was not issued through any of its official communication channels.
WAEC Warns Against Spreading False Information
WAEC advised candidates, parents, school administrators, and the general public to verify examination-related information only through its official platforms before accepting or sharing such updates.
The Council stressed that official announcements concerning examinations, results, and other activities are always published through its verified communication channels.
Candidates Urged to Rely on Official Sources
The clarification comes amid the release of the 2026 WASSCE results, a period when misleading information is often circulated online.
Candidates are encouraged to obtain updates directly from WAEC's official website and verified social media accounts to avoid being misled by fake notices or unofficial publications.
