Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has announced a ban on final-year sign-out celebrations within the institution as part of efforts to maintain a safe, peaceful, and orderly campus environment.
The directive, issued by the Polytechnic's management, takes immediate effect and applies to all graduating students.
According to the management, the decision is aimed at promoting orderliness and preventing activities that could pose security or safety risks within the campus community.
Activities Prohibited
The management listed several activities that are no longer permitted under the new directive, including:
- Sign-out celebrations.
- Entry of visitors for sign-out activities.
- Bringing celebratory items such as cakes, balloons, gifts, and similar materials into the campus for sign-out events.
- Wearing sign-out attire or clothing intended for such celebrations.
- Organising disruptive activities capable of disturbing the peace on campus.
- Dangerous or reckless driving associated with graduation celebrations.
Convocation Remains the Approved Graduation Celebration
The Polytechnic emphasized that its official convocation ceremony is the only approved graduation celebration for students.
Management urged all graduating students to comply fully with the directive and avoid any activities that could disrupt academic and administrative activities within the institution.
Sanctions for Defaulters
The institution warned that strict compliance is mandatory, adding that anyone who violates the directive will face appropriate disciplinary measures.
The management reiterated that the policy became effective immediately and advised all students to adhere to the regulations to ensure a peaceful atmosphere across the Polytechnic community.
