FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, AKURE OPENS ADDITIONAL POST-UTME SCREENING FOR FOUR NEW COURSES, ANNOUNCES REGISTRATION DEADLINE

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has announced an additional Post-UTME screening exercise for candidates seeking admission into four newly introduced undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The exercise is specifically for eligible 2026 UTME candidates interested in the new programmes. Registration is scheduled to run from September 24 to October 2, 2026, with eligible applicants required to complete the online process within the stated period.

Four New Programmes Included

The additional screening covers the following programmes:

  1. B.Tech. Industrial and Technology Education – School of Science and Technology Education
  2. B.Tech. Landscape Architecture – School of Architecture
  3. B.Tech. Interior Architecture Design – School of Architecture
  4. B.Eng. Information and Communication Engineering – School of Electrical Systems Engineering

Candidates interested in any of these programmes are expected to meet FUTA's stated UTME, O'Level and age requirements before proceeding with the screening registration.

Who Is Eligible for the FUTA Additional Screening?

The screening is open to candidates who obtained a minimum score of 180 in the 2026 UTME conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Applicants must also have selected FUTA as their first-choice institution.

In addition, candidates are required to possess at least five O'Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.

The accepted examinations listed in the notice are WAEC, NECO and NABTEB, or their equivalent.

Applicants must also ensure that the UTME subject combination used is appropriate for the particular programme they intend to apply for.

FUTA Post-UTME Registration Period

The university stated that the additional screening registration will commence on September 24, 2026 and close on October 2, 2026.

Important date clarification: The supplied notice describes September 24, 2026 as a Wednesday, but September 24, 2026 falls on a Thursday. The article therefore uses the numerical date rather than repeating the weekday discrepancy.

Candidates who do not complete their registration within the stipulated period will not be eligible to participate in the screening exercise.

How to Apply for FUTA Additional Screening

Applicants are required to complete the Post-UTME application process online.

The procedure stated by the university is as follows:

  • Visit www.futa.edu.ng for detailed information.
  • Complete and submit the FUTA Post-UTME Application Form online.
  • Print a copy of the completed registration form.

The candidate's UTME registration number and full name must correspond correctly with the details on the JAMB slip when making payment and completing registration.

After payment, applicants are expected to return to the university website and complete the online registration form.

FUTA Screening Fee

The screening fee is ₦2,000.

According to the notice, payment is to be made at any bank through the Remita platform after the required code has been generated.

However, candidates who have previously paid and registered for FUTA's Post-UTME screening do not need to make another payment.

This also applies to candidates who had already registered for the screening but now wish to change to one of the newly listed programmes. Such applicants can update their screening portal to reflect the new programme without making another payment.

O'Level Result Upload Is Required

FUTA has also highlighted the importance of candidates' O'Level results in the admission process.

Applicants must ensure that their O'Level results have been uploaded on JAMB CAPS or verified through the JAMB verification portal.

The university stated that failure to complete this requirement will make an affected candidate ineligible for admission.

Minimum Age Requirement

Another condition concerns the age of candidates seeking admission in the 2026/2027 academic session.

FUTA stated that candidates must have attained the age of 16 years by September 30, 2026 to be considered for admission during the year.

Screening Is Mandatory for Admission Consideration

The university made it clear that candidates who are not screened will not be considered for admission.

Applicants who meet the eligibility conditions should therefore complete the registration process within the announced period and participate in the screening exercise.

Candidates Who Previously Registered Can Change Programmes

Candidates who had already registered for FUTA's Post-UTME screening have an option to change their intended programme to one of the four newly listed courses.

Such candidates are required to update their screening portal with the programme they wish to change to.

The notice specifically states that no additional payment is required for this change.
