KWARA STATE POLYTECHNIC GETS NBTE APPROVAL TO LAUNCH ND PROGRAMME IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE




Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has received approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to commence a National Diploma (ND) programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the next academic session.

The development was announced by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, during the opening ceremony of the 7th Annual International Conference of the Institute of Applied Sciences.

The new programme is expected to expand the institution’s academic offerings while providing students with an opportunity to pursue formal training in a rapidly developing field.

Kwara Poly to Introduce ND Artificial Intelligence Programme

According to the Rector, the NBTE has granted the Polytechnic approval to commence the ND Artificial Intelligence programme.

He disclosed this while addressing participants at the conference held at the Admiral Mohammed Lawal Auditorium.

The approval marks an important development for Kwara State Polytechnic as the institution prepares to introduce a programme focused specifically on Artificial Intelligence at the National Diploma level.

The Rector also invited academics and other stakeholders to contribute ideas and scholarly materials that could support the successful commencement of the programme.

Rector Calls for Research and Scholarly Contributions

Speaking on the new programme, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed encouraged researchers and other experts to submit ideas, research papers and relevant academic contributions that could add value to the planned ND Artificial Intelligence programme.

He stressed that useful contributions capable of strengthening the programme would be welcomed.

The call is aimed at encouraging collaboration and ensuring that available expertise and research can contribute to the successful take-off of the new academic offering.

Announcement Made at Annual Institute Conference

The announcement was made during the opening of the 7th Annual International Conference of the Institute of Applied Sciences of the Polytechnic.

The conference was organised around the theme:

“Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development in Sciences and Applied Sciences.”

The event brought together academics, professionals and other stakeholders to discuss the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence and its applications across different areas.

While speaking at the event, the Rector commended the Institute of Applied Sciences for selecting what he described as a timely and relevant theme.

He noted that Artificial Intelligence is rapidly influencing virtually every aspect of human behaviour and activities.

Against this backdrop, he expressed confidence that participants at the conference would gain useful knowledge from the papers and lectures scheduled for presentation.
